Grab a random book. Any book at all. Could even be one of yours!
Open the book to a random page. Pick a sentence at random.
Now write a paragraph using that random sentence as the opening.
This exercise is designed to take a detour around your inner critic and editor. Your paragraph should, ideally, have nothing whatsoever to do with the original book and story — you’re just using like a seed in a fractal to create something new.
