Once more unto the breach! Let’s take a few minutes out of the busy pace of the holiday season to exercise our writerly minds a bit, shall we?
The What If? Game, Modified
Typically, the What If? game involves just spinning out an idea from a theoretical scenario in your WIP and running with it. Today is a tiny bit different.
Pick a bizarre scenario. Something silly or nonsensical or pointless. “What if my goldfish could talk?” If you can’t come up with your own quickly, use that one!
Then scribble down five possible scenarios that spin out of that idea. We’re going for speed here — don’t think too hard! I don’t even want five sentences — just five quick bullet points.
Now take ONE of those ideas and write a very quick paragraph around it.
And you’re done!
