Here’s the description:
Jazz Dent has been shot and left to die in New York City. His girlfriend Connie is in the clutches of Jazz’s serial killer father, Billy. And his best friend Howie is bleeding to death on the floor of Jazz’s own home in tiny Lobo’s Nod. Somehow, these three must rise above the horrors their lives have become and find a way to come together in pursuit of Billy. But then Jazz crosses a line he’s never crossed before, and soon the entire country is wondering: “Like father, like son?” Who is the true monster?
The chase is on, and this time Jazz is the hunted, not the hunter. And beyond Billy there lurks something much, much worse. Prepare to meet…the Crow King.
So, yeah, there’s that.
Blood of My Blood will be in your hot little hands on September 23.
But if you can’t wait until September for I Hunt Killers action, I’d like to draw your attention to the parenthetical part of the headline above.
Lucky Day is a special project I’ve had in mind almost since the very beginning of the series. It’s set four years before I Hunt Killers and tells the story of G. William catching Billy Dent. I really love this little tale, and I’m thrilled that it will be available in the spring as an e-novella for y’all to read as you wait for Blood of My Blood.
So, that’s it for now. Stay tuned for the covers to both Blood of My Blood and Lucky Day, as well as samples! To be the first to see them, be sure to sign up for my newsletter!
Thank GOD for this news. I sped through the first two books and straight off a cliff (thanks for that) and feel like I might go slightly crazy sometimes not being able to pick up the third.
No pressure or anything, but eight months is a long time to wait—would you mind finishing BLOOD OF MY BLOOD right now instead?
If I could conjure BLOOD OF MY BLOOD to your bookshelf right now, I would. But publishing is an industry that — in general — takes time.
The book is finished. It’s being copyedited and then it needs to be designed and laid out and packaged. And it needs to be promoted to the sales team and to the people at your local bookstore. And it needs to be sent to reviewers. And so on and so forth.
Everyone involved in the process wants the book in your hands as quickly as humanly possible. It’s just that “as quickly as humanly possible” is eight months from now, give or take a few days. 🙂
I bought I Hunt Killers when it first came out and sped through it and did the same with Game. I had a mini conniption when I found out when Blood of my Blood was becoming available this year!!!!! I love your writing and would be willing to grab any book off of the shelf if it had your name on it. Is there any thing else that you are in the process of writing or is this going to be another waiting game to see what you come out with?
Hi, Kate!
I’m glad you like the book so much. If all you’ve read are the KILLERS books, then there’s a TON of stuff you could still read. Click on the Novels link to see my other books!
And yes, I’m currently working on lots more, including my collaboration with actor Peter Facinelli, AFTER THE RED RAIN.
Why won’t Lucky Day come out in print? Of course it might be less hassle to go through the printing, but some of us haven’t evolved into technology yet, just a consideration. Paper > Screen.
Hey, Moses,
If you can see this website (and you clearly can), then trust me: You CAN read Lucky Day, with no additional equipment! Kindle, Nook, iBooks, and Kobo ALL have absolutely free software for your computer AND absolutely free web apps that allow you to read their ebooks. Google it or start with the links on the Unsoul’d page: https://barrylyga.com/unsould.
I understand that you prefer paper to pixels, but this is how we decided to publish this. It’s a prequel, so it isn’t part of the “flow” of the series. I certainly wouldn’t publish, say, BLOOD OF MY BLOOD as e-only after putting the first two books in print! But like the other prequel stories (“Career Day,” “Neutral Mask,” and the upcoming “Blood Boy”), Lucky Day is something extra for fans who want to see it. And, like those stories, it’s e-only for all kinds of reasons that, honestly, are nitty-gritty “how the sausage is made” sorts of things. Short version: Book publishing is good at publishing BOOKS, not novellas or short stories. The system doesn’t work terribly well with trying to print something so short and remain economically viable. I’m thrilled that technology has advanced to the point that I can tell these little side stories and get them out to my readers — twenty years ago, it would have been nearly impossible.
Happy reading!
Oh I understand. I thought this would follow as a whole book rather than a short story. Well whatever the reason you can sure count me on buying it!
Oh My God!! I’m gonna die! I loved the first to books, and in a love/hate relationship with the ending of Game and can’t wait for the next book. I’m kinda sad that it is ending, but sadly all great things must come to an end at one point. But still can’t wait to read!
Ugh I honestly can not wait for Blood of my Blood to come out. Same as everyone else I bought each book when it first came out and I know after I read I Hunt Killers and having to wait for Game to come out it was agonizing and then that cliff hanger good god. I think I feel like I’ll be sitting here twiddling my thumbs until September because I am super excited for the third. I also want to read Lucky Day but I don’t have a nook and I’m not a huge fan of e-books. Do you think you’ll ever make it in paper at some point? Or will it just always be as an e-book only?
Hi, Paige,
I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the series!
As to LUCKY DAY: As I said to Moses in the comment above, you absolutely do NOT need a Nook, Kindle, or any other ereader to read it! All you need is a computer and a web browser…which you obviously have access to, since you’re on this web page. 🙂 Check out the LUCKY DAY page at https://barrylyga.com/lucky-day for more information.
I saw i hunt killers in a book store once and they always say dont judge a book by its cover. im glad i didnt. i quickly read through it and am dying inside right now because i just found out when the next book is coming out. i love how both i hunt killers and game have kept me reading to the end and i could barely ever put it down
OMG! I can’t wait until this book comes out. I just KNEW that “Game” couldn’t have been the last book. It left me wondering what happened to the three teens afterwards. But now I can know! I hope Jasper doesn’t turn out like his father (if Billy really is his father). I like Jazz, and I like how he attempts to be good. And I love how Connie keeps him in line, too. Can’t wait!
So I loved the first 2 books they were really good I cant wait any longer for these to come out!! I first read “I Hunt Killers” from my school library and maybe never gave the book back. Okay so I didn’t give the book back my bad it was just so good I ended up paying for it but its still on my bookshelf at home!!
Four days ago I took my son to our local library to get his very own lib.card. I decided to go and see if they had anything new, when I saw Game. My son pointed out about I hunt killers. I borrow both books and I just finished Game, what a cliffhanger. I can’t hardly wait. Great reading!!!
I have read in some of your interviews that Bruce Springsteen is an inspiration for you. What are some of you favorite songs? Any that you think might make a good book?
You have no idea the fan-girl-ing-ness that happened when I found out that you were (finally) writing the 3rd. Currently the police are still investigating why a mushroom cloud appeared over federal way then subsequently vanished… but I’ve said to much already….
My 6 year old cousin is trying to read I Hunt Killers… No matter how high I put it she still reaches for it -_-‘
It’s almost here! Just four more months!
And wow — your cousin is persistent! 🙂
Love your books. Are you releasing the first chapter of BLOOD OF MY BLOOD anytime soon?
Thanks.
Thanks!
I’ll probably preview the book when we get a little bit closer. Keep an eye on the site, on Twitter, or subscribe to my newsletter for updates!
You have an incredibly disturbing mind. It makes your books awesome. This is an insight into serial killers’ minds that makes more sense than anything I’ve ever heard of. I picked up “I Hunt Killers” at random from a shelf at the library. Then I started reading it a week later. Then I returned it the day after that and got the second one. I just finished “Game”, and found your site looking up the release date for “Blood of My Blood”.
That cliffhanger was intense. You are a horrible person for leaving me hanging like that.
OMG thank god Barry i love your books and cant wait im so excited!!!!
I know for a fact you wont dissapoint me and it comes out the same month as my B-day 🙂
My friend and I have been waiting FOREVER for this book to come out, I got him into the series and the cliffhanger (Game) completely ruined our lives. Cannot wait!!!!!
so is blood of my blood going to be the last book in the series?? 🙁 i speed through the books to fast and this series is the only series that has kept my attention in the longest time
Yep, this is the last book in the series! There are, however, the prequels, if you haven’t read them yet.
