Now They are Revealed: Schemata Pages!

Posted on: 12/10/09

One question I am frequenty asked is: Will you ever publish Schemata (the graphic novel Fanboy is working on in The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy & Goth Girl and Goth Girl Rising)? Someone submitted that very question to the 20 Questions for Barry contest and it was selected, so if you want to see the complete answer, you can watch the video here.

We originally intended to have some pages from Schemata show up in the first book, so I got my friend Jeff Dillon to draw a cover and a few pages of art that I later lettered. But we couldn't figure out a way to do it without breaking up the flow of the story, and the pages ended up living only on my hard drive.

Until now.

If you want to see what Schemata MIGHT have looked like, had it ever been published, you can check it out below. Enjoy!

Weren't these published on Dillon's website a while back? I remember a couple of these pages were also used in the Vidlit video...

Glad to see them in full.

Mark Brodericks representation is Ben? This highly amuses me.

Some of these showed up on Dillon's site, and you're right that some panels were cobbled together into the VidLit -- good eye!

Dillon was playing around with different representations of her. We hadn't really settled on one yet. But the woman on the cover, the last panel of the unused page, and lowest left panel of the first page are all versions.

SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT CONTINUE READING IF YOU HAVE NOT READ GOTH GIRL RISING:

and I liked the poem you had running throughout GGR. Very Powerfull. Definetely added the GG's emotional side. and was completely blindsided by the letters to Neil thing, Incredible!

@india: A third book? Probably not. But who knows -- I never thought I would write the second one, either!
