Teenagers from...the Future!

I make no secret of my love for the Legion of Super-Heroes. Sure, scoff, if you like. Mock the name. Mock the idea of teenagers a thousand years from now as the steadfast and revered protectors of the universe. Chortle at the very concept of Matter-Eater Lad (whose super-power is the ability to eat anything -- anything).

I don't care what you say. I love it anyway.

And I'm not alone. The Legion has a large, faithful (and, some say, mentally disturbed) fan base, as well as a decades-long string of some great comics (and some crappy ones, too -- let's be honest).

Sequart is publishing a special collection of scholarly essays about the Legion and I was asked to contribute the Afterword, which I was only too happy to do.

The book will first be available at the New York Comic-Con in April, with a general release to bookstores in May. If you've ever even looked at a Legion comic before, you pretty much owe it to yourself to read this.

(The cover, of course, apes the cover to Adventure Comics #247, the first appearance of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Yours truly owns an original copy. Ahem.)
