Boy Toy...the Movie!

The title of the blog post says it all: Boy Toy has officially been optioned!

I've been sitting on this news for a while -- two years, to be exact. That's how long it took the agents and lawyers to nail things down, for reasons passing my understanding, but best summed up as "Hollywood takes forever."

Some of you have been down this road with me before, when my first book was optioned. Click on that link to see my thoughts then about movies and options and Hollywood. They haven't changed in the intervening years. (And, for those of you wondering, I'm sorry -- there's no new news on the Fanboy movie. See the phrase in quotation marks at the end of the previous paragraph.)

Boy Toy has been optioned by Glenn Gordon Caron, a name that may be familiar to many of you. Glenn has produced and created some great television and movies, but he's best known to me as the creator and writer of one of my favorite shows from the 1980s -- Moonlighting, the show that launched the career of Bruce Willis. I honestly never imagined letting someone make a movie out of Boy Toy, but Glenn won me over with his vision for the story.

Boy Toy Movie

I think Boy Toy, while still a book filled with Josh's personal thoughts, would be much better suited to a movie. I loved The Astonishing Adventures more, no doubt, but I've always had a hard time thinking of how that would be translated into a movie. Boy Toy seems much more flexible in that aspect... which I think shows your flexibility as a writer! ;)

Will you write a sequel to the book Boy Toy? I love the book and I want more but I can't read more until you write another book to the book Boy Toy. PLEASE WRITE A SEQUEL I LOVEEEE THE BOOK!

@Rachel: Not a sequel, but -- someday -- a companion book, telling Eve's story. It will probably be a while, but someday I will write it.

I just finished reading this book a few days ago and it was AMAZING! I feel in love with all of the characters, especially Josh! I cried a few times during it too. Hopefully, the movie will do the book justice.

I absoulutely fell in love with this book and cried after reading it. I wish you would really think about making this into a sequel or atleast one more book talking about Josh and his future and what happens with him and Rachel. Will there be a movie and if so when will it be out?

Glad you liked the book! As to the movie: Like I said in the blog -- Hollywood takes forever. It'll happen or it won't and there's nothing I can do about it one way or the other. I'm waiting just like you guys. :)
