EVERY WEEK, REJECTION LETTERS FROM MY PAST. BECAUSE THE HURT GOES AWAY AFTER A COUPLE OF DECADES.

THIS WEEK IN REJECTION!

This Week in Rejection!: Dana Awards

Not a publisher this week, but an award program. And I’m not gonna lie to you, folks: This one stung Young Barry a bit…

Dana Awards

I don’t remember what I submitted for the Dana Awards, but I do know that getting the list of people who did win as part of the “Sorry” letter would have hurt. Still, it’s always nice to get that personal touch (at the top of the form letter). I’m sure that eased the pain a bit.

  1. I don’t understand why the list of winners would hurt. I was a judge for a few screenplay contests and people would complain if they *didn’t* receive a list of the winners, and would accuse us of running a scam contest that took the money without awarding prizes (which was patently untrue). You just can’t please people, it seems.
