Continuing our trip down Memory Lane, with another story from that fabled issue of Batman Family, one of the first comics I ever read…

This is from the only new story in that issue, so it was vastly more modern and polished than the reprints I’ve showed over the past couple of weeks. It is also, I believe, the moment when I fell in love with Batgirl.

It’s not just that I was and am a guy, and therefore was gobsmacked by the unbelievably gorgeous lines of a José Luis Garcia-Lopez woman. It was the way she totally comes back on Robin with utmost confidence and dive-bombs him with his own secret identity. I loved (and still love) the abject shock on Robin’s face. (And, of course, nowadays I also recognize the double entendre there, too…)
